From where she was standing
is an exhibition of new work by Maddie Leach, which references her time as artist in residence in Mandurah, Western Australia in 2014. The project follows and extends a curious historical narrative between a rock, a meteorite and a missing plaque in small town Western Australia.

Zeroing in on the meteorite's presence the show, for White Night we are hosting two events that look to the night sky. At 7pm there will be an illustrated talk by meteorite specialist Joel Schiff – including samples of meteorites – at the gallery. At 8pm we'll move to a rooftop close to the gallery building, for a telescope viewing of the moon and Jupiter with John Rowe from Auckland Stardome Observatory & Planetarium. Light refreshments provided.

Presented in association with Auckland Arts Festival 2016 and White Night
