Jim Allen, O-AR (installation view), 2007.
Jim Allen, one of the key figures of conceptual or post object art in New Zealand, realised in 1974 an installation in two parts, O-AR 1 at Barry Lett/RKS Gallery, and O-AR 2 at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. O-AR 1 was purchased by the Auckland Art Gallery and reconstructed in 2005. ST PAUL St exhibits this important installation in Gallery Two, while video documentation of performances are on show in Gallery One.

Poetry for Chainsaws was first performed in 1976 at the Experimental Art Foundation, Adelaide, South Australia, and re-staged in May 2006 at Michael Lett, Auckland. News, performed under the title Newspaper in 1976 at the Experimental Art Foundation, Adelaide, South Australia, was restaged in 2006 at the Govett Brewster Gallery, New Plymouth.
