Gallery Three: TDC Auckland
2 April 2019 - 17 April 2019
Gallery Three
TDC64 Auckland, 2019
AUT’s School of Design and ST PAUL St Gallery are delighted to be able to host the first New Zealand exhibition of work from the world’s leading typographic organisation, the Type Directors Club (TDC). This travelling show pulls together the best typography from around the world—all of it work that was submitted to TDC's competitions. AUT sees hosting this event as a really important contribution to the growing awareness of typography in our local community. It will also help widen the range of typographic work available for New Zealand designers to see in its original form, rather than just on the web. As educators, we are also excited to offer this opportunity to our students, and we hope that the exhibition will act as a venue for the profession and our students to jointly share a passion for typography. We are delighted to be able to work with Osborne Shiwan in making this important exhibition happen. – Dr Peter Gilderdale, Senior Lecturer in Communication Design, AUT
Direct from its New York showing, TDC64 Auckland is the latest exhibition from the world-renowned Type Directors Club competition, showcasing a culturally diverse and exciting range of award-winning work from over 35 countries. Chosen from 1,835 entries by some of the design industry’s most recognised mentors, innovators and thought-leaders, with work in dozens of languages, TDC64 will be displayed in seven exhibitions that visit over 50 countries. Founded in 1946 by the industry’s leading design practitioners, the Type Directors Club is an international organisation whose purpose is to support, record and celebrate excellence in typography, both in print and on screen. — Osborne Shiwan
