On March 15, 2019, the Al-Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Centre in Ōtautahi Christchurch were the sites of the first terrorist attack on Muslim people in Aotearoa New Zealand, where fifty-one shuhada (martyrs) were killed, and forty people wounded. Compelled to confront this event, Rafik Patel’s PhD  exhibition presents a spatial cosmopoiesis as an autoethnographic that draws-out a response of tahqīq (witnessing and attestation) that faces the image of trauma and mourning.
